Scenery produce and commission new artworks, curate exhibitions and publish new critical writing to investigate ideas of interdependence and simultaneous states within the production and reading of contemporary artworks and exhibitions. Scenery is co-directed by the curator Simon Morrissey and the artists Mandy Ure and Roy Voss.

Scenery explore the use of primarily colloquial interpretations of the term that gives the group its name. These interpretations are transposed from theatrical and landscape vocabularies as ways of describing specific dynamics in contemporary art. In both the cited vocabularies scenery has a base commonality of use. It is a kind of background or container for activity; it is that which surrounds us; it is that which we gaze upon.
